VF Bioscience is a French biotech company specialized in microbiology research. Starting from our proprietary collection of lactic acid bacteria, we isolate and characterize microbial strains with unique properties and provide innovative solutions for the nutraceuticals sector (probiotic strains, postbiotics), food and feed industry (freeze-dried ferments), skin care and pharmaceutical sectors (specialty fermentation starters and processes for bioproduction of active molecules).
We are located in France on the Lille-Eurasanté biotech park, at the heart of a major European medical and academic cluster. On this site entirely dedicated to healthcare activities, academic hospitals, universities, research institutions collaborate with biotech and nutrition companies to develop innovative solutions for today’s health challenges. VF Bioscience is a member of the “Nutrition Health Longevity” competitivity cluster and carries out collaborative R&D projects with local academic laboratories.
Through strategic partnerships with leading universities, biotech companies, manufacturers of functional food and dietary supplements all over the world, we have achieved a global presence and sell our exclusive ingredients in more than 30 countries in Europe, Middle East, North America and Asia.
France Relance. VF Bioscience is a 2021 laureate of the France Relance program, which supported the company’s investments in specialty fermentation research and production capacities.
Réseau Entreprendre. VF Bioscience is part of Réseau Entreprendre Nord, a network of entrepreneurs and managers that supports high-potential entrepreneurial projects.
Our new research and pilot production facility in Lille has been designed to reduce the carbon footprint of our activities. A 150kWc photovoltaic plant delivers enough energy to cover most of our needs.

What is in your strain collection?
A proprietary collection of lactic acid bacteria from which we select strains with specific probiotic, technological or functional properties. All our strains have QPS, non Novel Food status.
Which strains and starters can I source from you?
Among others our documented probiotic strains L. fermentum ME-3® and L. plantarum VFP46®, and dairy and specialty fermentation starters such as L. delbrueckii VFL50 and L. helveticus VFH45.
Can you select or develop a strain for a specific application?
Yes, strain screening and characterisation is a core activity of our discovery platform.
Where is your research carried out?
In our own research facility in the Lille metropolitan area in France, equipped for microbial strain screening, characterisation and pilot fermentation.
